N.C. BANKERS ASSOCIATION SPONSORS CONSUMER LENDING CONFERENCE

 RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The N.C. Bankers Association (NCBA) will sponsor its annual Consumer Lending Conference Oct. 10-12 at the Myrtle Beach Hilton.
 NCBA President Kelly S. King, president of Branch Banking & Trust Co. in Raleigh, will deliver the keynote address at the group dinner meeting Sunday night, Oct. 10.
 B. Doyle Craven, chairman of the NCBA Consumer Lending Committee and vice president of First National Bank & Trust Co., Asheboro, will preside over the Monday session. Following a breakfast pep talk by motivational speaker Jim Hamlett, the bankers can choose among three concurrent sessions:
 "Revolving Credit Lines in the Future," presented by R. Trent Thompson, assistant vice president and manager of prime equity loans for First Union National Bank of N.C. in Charlotte;
 "Marketing the Retail Customer," by David L. Pope, senior vice president of Wachovia Bank of N.C. in Winston-Salem; or
 "Loan Automation," moderated by I.W. Amerson Jr., senior vice president of Centura Bank in Rocky Mount. The panelists will be Richard A. Brooks, assistant vice president, First National Bank & Trust Co., Asheboro; Carlos F. Goodrich, vice president, Branch Banking & Trust Co., Wilson; and Jane Knight, assistant vice president, United Carolina Bank, Monroe.
 The concurrent sessions will be repeated after a break to allow attendees a second choice of programs.
 Round table discussions and a legislative update by NCBA Executive Vice President A.D. (Al) Fuqua Jr. will highlight the closing session on Tuesday.
 John H. Garrison, chairman of the NCBA Consumer Lending Conference Subcommittee, will preside over the opening and closing sessions. He is senior vice president, Branch Banking & Trust Co., Wilson.
 NCBA has been the professional and trade association for North Carolina commercial banks of all sizes since 1897. Its member institutions hold more than 99 percent of the commercial bank assets in this state.
