N. Korea's Kim Yong Nam to pay 4-day visit to Indonesia from Sun.

North Korea's second-ranking leader Kim Yong Nam is to pay a four-day visit to Indonesia from Sunday amid global concerns over his country's nuclear program and its recent failed attempt to launch a rocket, an Indonesian presidential spokesman said Monday.

In a press statement, Teuku Faizasyah said Kim, president of North Korea's Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, will travel to Jakarta at the invitation of the Indonesian president.

''Indonesia and North Korea have already had a good relationship since diplomatic ties (between the two countries) were officially opened in 1961),'' Faizasyah said.

He did not detail Kim's agenda in Indonesia, but a State Palace source said Kim, 84, may hold talks with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on May 15.

Kim's position is believed to be just below that of the country's new top leader Kim Jong Un.

The trip will be Kim's third to Indonesia in the past decade. He last visited in 2005 to attend the Asian-African Conference in the West Java provincial capital Bandung.

In 2002, he met then-President Megawati Sukarnoputri whose family's relationship with the late North Korean leader Kim Jong Il dates back to 1964.

Indonesia has maintained a strong relationship with North Korea since the time of Indonesia's founding father and first President Sukarno, Megawati's father, and North Korean founder and first leader Kim Il Sung, the grandfather of Kim Jong Un.
