Mysteries on Mount Everest. (catholic tastes).


The recent 50th anniversary of the first conquest of Mount Everest prompted a British Benedictine monk to recall stories connected to a Small crucifix crucifix: see cross.  he had given to that first Everest expedition team. Edmund Hillary buried it in the snow at the summit.

At the monk's request, nuns at a London convent had prayed for fine weather for the expedition. So the priest decided to give the rest of his rosary to their Reverend Mother when she sailed to Australia to found a sister house there. The ship she ended up on was called the S.S. Himalaya, and Mass was celebrated in a saloon with a mural of Mount Everest.
