Mylex Forms Joint Venture With Lobster Technology Holding AG to Focus On Network Attached Storage; Network Power & Light Investments Leveraged.


FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 1999--

Mylex Corporation (Nasdaq:MYLX) today announced the formation of a joint venture with Lobster Computer Concept GmbH, a subsidiary of Lobster Technology Holding AG of Berlin, Germany. The new venture based in Berlin, called LXCO Technologies AG, will engage in the development and marketing of network attached storage products.

Under the terms of the joint venture, Mylex has transferred certain intellectual property and technology previously associated with its discontinued dis·con·tin·ue

1. To stop doing or providing (something); end or abandon:
 Network Power & Light operations to Lobster Computer Concept for contribution to the new venture. In exchange, Mylex will receive a 19% interest in LXCO. Mylex also holds the option (at its discretion) to increase its ownership interest in LXCO to 45%, at any time after October 1, 1999, for no additional consideration. The first product resulting from this venture is not expected until the latter part of 1999. Lobster Computer Concept has been Mylex's master distributor in Germany for many years.
