This 15th edition of an international textbook for midwives has been revised with recent guidelines, protocols, and research evidence, as well as updated b&w diagnostic images, photos, and illustrations in a two-color format, with a section of color photos identifying problem conditions and illustrating breastfeeding positions. Because more women now want to be involved in decisions about how they and their babies are cared for, the new edition contains a chapter on providing women with accessible, evidence-based information. There is a new chapter on women's emotional health, and material on midwifery services for disadvantaged women and the links between social disadvantage and poor health outcomes. Also new to this edition is a companion web site offering an image bank, unlabelled illustrations for self-testing, and 500 multiple-choice questions. Sections of the text cover midwifery, human anatomy and reproduction, pregnancy, labor, the puerperium, the newborn, and the context of midwifery practice. Fraser and Cooper are affiliated with the Academic Division of Midwifery at the University of Nottingham, Queen's Medical Center, UK.
