MySpace with taste.
At a certain age, does having a MySpace page become a little sad?
For some sophisticated gays, the answer is yes, and they are graduating
to TheWhole9.com, a hybrid of MySpace and Citysearch.com with fewer ads
and no porn-industry friend requests. Creator Lisa Schultz describes it
as "a creative online community--designed to connect people, let
them showcase their work, network, date, and give them tools to create
the perfect evening." Schultz says the site's users are about
30% LGBT, probably because TheWhole9 caters to creative folks like
writers and musicians. Adding to the queer quotient is out actor Mark
Espinoza--probably best known as Jesse Vasquez of Beverly Hills,
90210--who serves as the site's cuisine official, suggesting cool
restaurants for users in hip cities. "I grew up in a tract
home," says Espinoza. "A good breakfast then was a number 5 at
Burger King."
