My wife's eye. (Editor's Notebook). My HOME HAS BEEN A SHAMBLES SINCE October. We've been stepping over misplaced mis·place tr.v. mis·placed, mis·plac·ing, mis·plac·es 1. a. To put into a wrong place: misplace punctuation in a sentence. b. kitchenware and weaving through a maze of furniture. I'm not entirely sure I even remember what the floor in my living room used to look like, since I can't see it for the drop cloths, spackle dust, and errant bric-a-brac that cover it. You see, we're under construction. My wife has a great eye. Every time I get complemented on a tie or shirt I wear, it's a sure bet it's on an item my wife picked out for me. Now she's on to larger game. Let me start from the beginning. My wife came home and, after 10 years in this house, said to me: "I can't stay in this house if it doesn't have an eat-in kitchen." "You only first noticed now that we don't have an eatin kitchen?" I asked. "I want to blow out the back wall of the kitchen 8 feet," she replied, answer at the ready. Then, in came a builder, who said, "If you're going to expand the kitchen, then you should push out that whole wall and expand the dining room, too." "And if we're going to do that," my wife added, "then we should expand our bedroom to get a full bath upstairs." "And if you're going to do that it continued, and kept "doing that" until we ultimately "blew out" most of the back wall of the house (upstairs and down), dormered the front, added a second heating zone, and widened the driveway. The only way I'm leaving this house now is wearing a toe tag
n. An ill-tempered person full of resentment and stubborn notions. [Origin unknown.] cur·mudg image! Together, we have taken our old house and turned it into our new home. And after all of this, I can't imagine ever leaving it. I'll bet that, before coming to your facility, a lot of your residents felt the same way, too. Which is why the architecture and design of your facility play such an important role in the satisfaction of your residents, their families, and your staff.
