My sister the porn actress.. Your Sex Doctor.

Byline: CATHERINE HOOD

Dear Dr Cath, MY little sister is thinking of going into the porn business and I don't know what to tell our parents.

She's 23 and hasn't been home for two years, but we still keep in touch. She's already been doing some glamour modelling and has now been approached about starring in porn films. I was shocked but she seemed quite happy to sell her body in this way and told me to mind my own business. What should I do?

Dear reader,

YOU may not like what she's doing but ultimately it's her decision.

Porn divides many people. Some agree with it, others condemn To adjudge or find guilty of a crime and sentence. To declare a building or ship unsafe for use or occupancy. It would be easy to assume your sister is somehow a victim and doesn't know what she's doing but many porn stars enjoy their work and find it provides them with a good living. Whatever your sister's motives, you can help by making sure she's thought through her decision and let her know she does have options.

Try to understand why she wants to do this. If she's under pressure then help her to get out of the situation, if she's happy then let her know she can come to you for support should she find herself in a situation she can't control.

It's important she takes precautions to protect herself from sexuallytransmitted infections like HIV HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), either of two closely related retroviruses that invade T-helper lymphocytes and are responsible for AIDS. And it's not up to you to tell your parents. She may prefer to keep her career choice a secret.
