My Favorite Sites.Disturbingauctions.com THIS is one I've had a lot of fun with lately. This takes the saying, "one person's trash is another person's treasure" to an extreme. It says on the site, "sometimes trash is trash." The site basically celebrates all the horrible stuff that people actually try to sell online and makes fun of them. It's really funny. The other day I was looking and they had toys under the category, "emotionally scarring scar 1 n. 1. A mark left on the skin after a surface injury or wound has healed. 2. A lingering sign of damage or injury, either mental or physical: toys." They have toys that you just wouldn't want in your house, but people are attempting to sell them, and I think they're sometimes successful. The one I'm staring at right now is "ugly cow," and it's horrific hor·rif·ic adj. Causing horror; terrifying. [Latin horrificus : horr re, to tremble + -ficus, -fic. .
It's just a hideously hid·e·ous adj. 1. Repulsive, especially to the sight; revoltingly ugly. See Synonyms at ugly. 2. Offensive to moral sensibilities; despicable. ugly cow that someone is trying to sell. There's another, "possessed monkey monkey, any of a large and varied group of mammals of the primate order. The term monkey includes all primates that do not belong to the categories human, ape, or prosimian; however, monkeys do have certain common features. ," and there's a caption that says, "this is why Timmy hasn't gone into his bedroom for three weeks." Finally, there's my personal favorite, "Attacking Puppet puppet, human or animal figure, generally of a small size and performing on a miniature stage, manipulated by an unseen operator who usually speaks the dialogue. ." It's photographed in a way that makes it look like it's attacking a small child, but I think it's supposed to be hugging the girl. It doesn't come off that way. I can't imagine that anyone is buying these items, but they're fun to look and they're for sale. Thepuppetcafe.com This is a really interesting site that showcases alternative puppetry puppetry Art of creating and manipulating puppets in a theatrical show. Puppets are figures that are moved by human rather than mechanical aid. They may be controlled by one or several puppeteers, who are screened from the spectators. . But it's also a good example of one of the first digitally hosted Web sites. The site showcases the ability to create digital puppets and take advantage of the immediacy im·me·di·a·cy n. pl. im·me·di·a·cies 1. The condition or quality of being immediate. 2. Lack of an intervening or mediating agency; directness: the immediacy of live television coverage. of the Web. When you go to the site, it's better if you download the pulse player, but it works either way. Without pulse you see the work of brilliant artists and performers, showcasing their alternative puppet work. With pulse, you're greeted by a digital host who walks you through the site and explains the artists and what they're doing. It's a way for me to identify all the trends in puppetry. This not only gives me the ability to spot new performing talent, but it also sparks ideas for future productions. Flyfishing.com I love fly fishing, and this site gives you access to fly fishing reports, telling you where the best fishing is at any given time. It has information on fly tying Fly tying is the process of producing an artificial fly to be used by anglers to catch fish via means of fly fishing. Probably the most concise description of fly tying is the one by Helen Shaw, a preeminent professional fly tier in Fly-Tying. (creating your own "flies"). It has a database of flies, which has all the different flies, conditions they should be used under, etc. It has information on casting techniques, and you can also buy fly fishing gear at the site. The order in which the sites are listed does not necessarily reflect the subject's preferences of frequency of use. |
