) announced the release of Wildcat! 4.2, an upgrade for their popular Wildcat 4-series Bulletin Board System (BBS (1) (Bulletin Board System) A computer system used as an information source and forum for a particular interest group. They were widely used in the U.S. ) software, which includes over 100 new enhancements for both system operators (sysops) and system users.

The release of Wildcat! 4.2 continues Mustang's commitment to sysops who rely on DOS and OS/2 platforms for running their systems. Wildcat! is the industry leader, with over 50,000 Wildcat! systems sold worldwide.

More than 100 New Features and Enhancements Added

In this fifth upgrade for the Wildcat! 4 line, Mustang programmers have added a number of important changes that address issues of security, message and file handling, and system operation. Several new Wildcat! 4.2 features include:

- The ability to handle encoded and standard .WCX WCX Working Certificate Excellent (performance certificate for hunting dog)
WCX Word Excel Activex
 files, allowing

the system to run current applications and author-encoded .WCX

programs. Now, sysops can encrypt wcCODE programs to keep their

applications secure. - The ability to scan message attachments for viruses. - A system security profile setting that will automatically expire a

member's password after a set period of days, to force a password

change. - The ability to add zip comments "on the fly" to files imported

 $129). A version supporting up to 10 concurrent users, the MultiLine 10, is available for an MSRP of $249. The MultiLine 48, supporting up to 48 concurrent users is available for an MSRP of $499 and the top of the line MultiLine Platinum, supporting up to 250 concurrent users is available for an MSRP of $799.

The BBS Suite, including the MultiLine Platinum with wcPRO, wcGATE, and wcCODE options is available for $999 (MSRP). Optional support utilities including wcPRO, wcGATE, wcCODE, and wcBILLING, are available separately and range from $99-$149 each.

Current subscribers to Mustang's Auto-Update Plan ($50/year) will receive the update free-of-charge and existing owners of Wildcat! v4.0 or newer may purchase the update direct from Mustang for $30. For owners of older versions of Wildcat! the update costs $50.
