My own students, ages 5 to adult, found MusicGoals by Eye and Ear and Rhythm user-friendly and enjoyable. After a brief introduction to each program, most students were able to work completely independently in a thirty-minute session. "Hint" and "tempo" buttons are available on screen to provide assistance when needed. Note, however, when considering pre-readers that all instructions are visual rather than narrative.
