 have inspired writers and musicians to create exhilarating works. A concert organized by The Splendor of Poland Cultural Events Committee (SOPCEC) on Sunday, March 9, features a work by Polish contemporary composer, Marian Sawa Marian Sawa (January 12, 1937, Krasnystaw—April 27, 2005, Warsaw) was a Polish composer, organist, improviser, musicologist, and pedagogue. Biography
He graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland in Feliks Raczkowski's organ class and
. "Stained Glass" is based on the ethereal interplay of light and space. This Organ Recital is one of over 40 events organized by SOPCEC to coincide with the magnificent "Leonardo da Vinci Leonardo da Vinci (də vĭn`chē, Ital. lāōnär`dō dä vēn`chē), 1452–1519, Italian painter, sculptor, architect, musician, engineer, and scientist, b. near Vinci, a hill village in Tuscany.  and The Splendor of Poland" exhibition at the Legion of Honor Legion of Honor: see decorations, civil and military.  in San Francisco. These types of events create a kaleidoscope of oftentimes little-known aspects of Polish culture. In addition to Sawa's work, the program includes compositions from the ages of the Renaissance, Romanticism to the 20th century. It reflects a stylistic variety of Poland's rich musical traditions and helps illustrate its historical contribution to the development of the world's musical culture and the present high caliber of Polish musical creativity.

The organist, Dr. Andrzej Zahorski, is a graduate of F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, and Stanford University. He participated as a soloist in several music festivals in Europe that included such celebrities as Guilian Weir, Peter Planyavsky, and Edward Kooiman, and was granted the Medal of Honor Medal of Honor
