IN THE FALL of 2000, Artist Repertory Theater of Portland collaborated with the Central Democratic Theater Company in Hanoi to produce Vietnam's first performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream A Midsummer Night's Dream is a romantic comedy by William Shakespeare written sometime in the 1590s. It portrays the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors, their interactions with the Duke and Duchess of Athens, Theseus and Hippolyta, and " by William Shakespeare.

Traveling with the theater's staff and company members, filmmaker Tom Weidlinger captured weeks of behind-the-scenes struggles with language, culture, ideology and artistic egos, all of which threatened to scuttle the production.

Weidlinger's film, "A Dream in Hanoi," will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday and July 19 and at 4:30 p.m. July 21 in the Whitsell Auditorium of the Portland Art Museum The Portland Art Museum (PAM) in Portland, Oregon, United States, was founded in the last days of 1892, making it the oldest art museum in the Pacific Northwest. Upon completion of the most recent renovations, Portland Art Museum became one of the twenty-five largest art museums in , 1219 S.W. Park Ave., Portland. Weidlinger and others involved in the project will attend the screening.

Admission is $6.50 for the general public and $5.50 for students, seniors and museum members.
