Soloists step front and center for Swing Shift

The Eugene big band Swing Shift will feature Count Basie's music in a free concert from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Westmoreland Community Center, 1545 W. 22nd Ave.

David John Matthews (born January 9 1967) is a South African, now naturalized American, Grammy-winning lead vocalist and guitarist for the Dave Matthews Band.

The Blue Skies Big Band will play traditional big band favorites, with vocals by the Jewel Tones, in a free concert at the south end of Springfield's Island Park at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A Mood settles in over on Taco Loco's patio

The Eugene tango band Mood Area 52 will perform as a trio at 7 p.m. Saturday on the patio at Taco Loco, 900 W. Seventh Ave.

The group will play at Taco Loco most Saturdays through August. There will be no show July 19. There is no cover charge.
