Multilink and Emerging Growth Company IPAG Collaborate on Opto-Electronic Solutions.

Business/Technology Editors

SOMERSET, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 2002

Multilink Technology Corporation (Nasdaq: MLTC MLTC Modern Languages Teaching Centre (University of Sheffield, UK)
MLTC Massachusetts Land Trust Coalition
MLTC Mixed Leukocyte/Tumor Cell Cultures
), a leading provider of advanced semiconductor-based solutions that accelerate the deployment of high-speed optical networks, announces that it is collaborating with Innovative Processing AG (IPAG IPAG Integrated Performing Arts Guild (Philippines)
IPAG International Public Advisory Group
), an emerging growth company located in Duisburg, Germany.

Under this agreement, Multilink will work closely with IPAG on the marketing, design and testing of 40 Gb/s optical PIN diode A PIN diode is a diode with a wide, undoped intrinsic semiconductor region between p-type semiconductor and n-type semiconductor regions.

receivers, electronic Traveling Wave Amplifiers and opto-electronic, monolithically-integrated devices. Additionally, Multilink will be the exclusive channel for IPAG's line of integrated opto-electronic receivers. This sharing of resources will leverage Multilink's expertise in high data rate communications devices and systems knowledge with IPAG's optical component technology, enabling Multilink to provide new services to customers and expand its product diversity from the optical interface all the way to the edge aggregation.

(InP) technology, IPAG's products are being designed to enable networking systems to transmit data signals over optical fiber strands by converting electronic signals into optical light pulses and optical light pulses into electronic signals. This technique is used to achieve very high data transmission speeds, and meet the highest degree of component requirements in performance and functionality.

"By combining Multilink's superior products and systems knowledge with IPAG's components development processes, we can offer customers a complete low power, high data rate transmitter and receiver solutions for optimum network performance," said Dr. Jens N. Albers, Multilink's Executive Vice-President and Co-Chairman and Vice Chairman of the IPAG Supervisory Board Supervisory board

. "We continue to seek out advanced technologies in order to fulfill Multilink's mission of providing advanced optical networking Communications between computers, telephones and other electronic devices using light. An optical network is far more reliable and has far greater potential transmission capacity than networking in the electrical domain. See optical fiber.  semiconductor solutions."

IPAG's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ralf M. Bertenburg comments: "IPAG focuses on Indium Phosphide as the most attractive candidate for monolithic integration of high-speed electronics, opto-electronics and optical (photonic Dealing with light (photons). See photon and photonics. ) devices. With our extensive knowledge and access to a complete InP processing line, IPAG is able to establish a standardized InP process technology with high yield. We are very excited about the partnership with Multilink which enables us to leverage this know-how and to bring our highly sophisticated products to the customer."

Multilink's minority equity investment in IPAG will grant Multilink early access to critical optical and opto-electronic devices for advanced higher-level sub-systems and modules. Multilink will work closely with IPAG on system and component requirements, packaging, as well as contributing in-depth industry experience to this partnership.

Multilink is continually seeking to establish research partnerships that will further their business developments but also technology worldwide. For further information please contact Multilink at businessdev@mltc.com.
