), NCR (NCR Corporation, Dayton, OH, www.ncr.com) A technology company specializing in financial terminal transactions, retail systems and data warehousing. Until the late 1990s, NCR was heavily invested in the hardware side of the industry, known worldwide as a major manufacturer of computers  (NYSE:NCR) and many other high-tech companies with its unbreakable 1-million-bit Virtual Matrix Encryption (VME (Virtual Machine Environment) An operating system from Fujitsu Services (formerly ICL) that runs on its Series 39 mainframes. Introduced in 1975, VME is a comprehensive product that provides a variety of utilities for datacenter operations. ), has sold and installed Virtual Matrix Encryption at the headquarters of La-Curacao, a multibillion-dollar international corporation.

Since VME is not licensed for sale outside the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , La-Curacao will use it in its U.S. offices nationwide only.

That level of purchase from such a large corporation is another milestone in the path to make VME a de-facto standard in the encryption business. La-Curacao joins the thousands of clients nationwide using VME98 to encrypt its critical data on a daily basis.

VME98 is the strongest available encryption product in the market, including the unbreakable Virtual Matrix Algorithm and a 1- million-bit symmetric key.

It is light years ahead of the competition, using at most 128-bit symmetric keys.

Since it debut in April 1998, VME98 has enjoyed major exposure worldwide. While the technology is not currently authorized for sale outside the United States, there is major interest worldwide. Only last month, a Russian Federation Russian Federation: see Russia.  lab forced two major brute-force attacks on the Meganet Web server in search of Virtual Matrix Encryption secrets. Both attacks failed.

In light of last week's EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation, San Francisco, CA, www.eff.org) A non-profit civil liberties organization founded in 1990 by Mitchell Kapor and John Perry Barlow. It works in the public interest to protect privacy and freedom of expression in the arenas of computers and the Internet.  compromise of the DES algorithm in 56 hours on a single machine worth under $250k, there is an urgent need for a much stronger symmetric key encryption that can replace DES. VME98 offers an unprecedented 1-million-bit symmetric key scheme paired with the unbreakable Virtual Matrix Algorithm.

VME98 is available in 21 different commercial versions and has currently sold for more than 5 months with clients nationwide. The sales are made directly through the Meganet Web site at www.meganet.com . Also, the $900 million Micro Center will start carrying VME98 next month. Other major retailers will follow in the next months.

The ongoing $1.2 million challenge is at its fifth month with no challenger. Meganet started a $1.2 million challenges series from April 1, 1998 and on for 12 months. Meganet posts a monthly challenge of $100,000 for registered owners of VME98. The challenges emphasize Meganet's confidence that VME is an unbreakable algorithm.

Meganet has a U.S. patent pending for VME. The technology uses a new field of encryption and a new algorithm to encrypt data that is completely different from any existing methods. VME is the only algorithm that does not encrypt the data nor transfer it.

By comparing the data to a random built-in Virtual Matrix, a system of pointers is being created, which is meaningless outside the context of the matrix they belong to, and then being repeatedly encrypted in a plethora of algorithms.

Even in the unlikely event that the algorithms are compromised, the set of pointers discovered is completely unrelated to the original data, and there is no way to derive the original data out of the pointers set. The Virtual Matrix encryption creates the world's strongest encryption algorithm A formula used to turn ordinary data, or "plaintext," into a secret code known as "ciphertext." Each algorithm uses a string of bits known as a "key" to perform the calculations. The larger the key (the more bits), the greater the number of potential patterns can be created, thus making  paired with a 1 million bit symmetric key.
