MultiGen ships GameGen II for Windows NT; Leading realtime 3D entertainment authoring software optimized for PC.
"As an industry leader in realtime 3D authoring software MultiGen is committed to ensuring that the maximum number of developers experience the benefits of realtime 3D development, regardless of the platform they use," explained Dennis Yeo, president and chief executive officer of MultiGen. "To achieve that goal, we have translated the power and functionality of our earlier authoring programs which were only available on advanced graphics work stations and made them available for Windows NT."
About GameGen II for Windows NT
MultiGen's GameGen II for Windows NT provides the authoring tools required to build optimized 3D worlds in the OpenFlight(R) data format, with the specialized attributes and organization required to maximize performance on target platforms including the PC, Apple(R) Macintosh(R), Nintendo 64(TM) and Sony PlayStation(TM). Additionally, GameGen II for Windows NT includes tools to structure, edit, tune and integrate existing databases into a format that is "realtime-ready." These tools improve overall productivity by allowing application developers to concentrate on entertainment value and creativity, without getting bogged down by programming.
"GameGen II will enable developers to get their games to market faster," explained Rick Bess, GameGen II product manager for MultiGen Inc. "GameGen II's interactive modeling and world building power allows artists to create and assemble textured artwork, and walk through the game world before the game is complete. Realtime optimization and preview features permit developers to build content that is tuned for realtime playback right from the start. These features should increase designers efficiency and productivity, while reducing the risk of costly rework and project delays due to poor gameplay."
With a 10-year history of supplying software for ground, air and sea simulations, as well as entertainment applications, MultiGen has played a role in solving many of the realtime simulation challenges now faced by game developers. Proven in use for these demanding applications, the tools and techniques provided in GameGen II for Windows NT enable previously unattainable levels of dynamic interaction and realistic fly-through capability in 3D worlds. GameGen II for Windows NT also provides advanced features, such as Level of Detail (LOD) model creation, Drawing Priority and Binary Separating Planes, that are not available to developers limited to animation and rendering software.
