, Zi Corporation, has signed a supply and distribution agreement with Fang Ah Company of China.

Fang Ah is to purchase from Zi Corporation, and distribute in China, 150,000 units of Zi Input under the trade name "101 Chinese Input System".

The supply and distribution agreement follows the endorsement by Guangdong Province's Computer Application & Development Leading Group Office, which found Zi Input software "intuitive and easy to learn and use Easy to learn refers to software that is well designed and capable of being used right away without having to wade through documentation. If you make the program work with little effort, it is easy to learn. ." The Office "highly recommends and encourages the use of 101 Chinese Input System" (Zi Input) by the Province's government departments, schools and newspaper media. Guangdong is the largest province in southern China, with a population of approximately 67 million. It is also one of the wealthiest provinces in the country with a GDP GDP (guanosine diphosphate): see guanine.  significantly above the national average.

Guangdong Province's Personnel Bureau, which is responsible for the Province's technical and vocational training, issued a circular directing civil servants to attend seminars to learn 101 Chinese Input System (Zi Input). The Personnel Bureau's objective is to require civil servants to communicate using computers instead of handwriting.

"This is a very important step by the Guangdong authorities," said S. K. Long, Managing Director of Fang Ah Company. "The growth of the PC market in China has been slow because it has been so difficult to input Chinese characters. The 101 Chinese Input System (Zi Input) can change that dramatically, making computers easier for the average Chinese person to use. This should have a dramatic impact on China's productivity."

Zi Input uses a novel Chinese character input system that is simple to learn and easy to use. The software uses 10 keys on a basic alphabetic keyboard and follows the stroke order that Chinese students learn in school. The result is that users can enter Chinese characters with an average 2.7 keystrokes. In comparison, handwritten hand·write
