Mt John University Observatory--corrections.

I would appreciate the opportunity of correcting a couple of errors in the report of the joint BAAVSS-AAVSO meeting in the April Journal (JBAA, 119(2), 96 (2009)) under the heading 'The MJUO/AAVSO collaboration'. The Mt John University Observatory is near the town of Tekapo (not 'Keikal'!); in fact it is right beside Lake Tekapo, and the refurbishment of the described telescope is by John Hearnshaw (not 'Earnshaw'). John Hearnshaw is Professor of Astronomy at the University of Canterbury's Physics and Astronomy department. He is also known as a writer, his latest book being Astronomical Spectrographs and their History.

Pertinent to this I can report that the Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand's Variable Star Section, directed by the late Dr Frank Bateson for 78 years, now has a new director and a new name. The RASNZ Council earlier this year, following consideration of his comprehensive development plan, appointed Dr Tom Richards of Melbourne, Australia, director of the newly named Variable Stars South.
