Mr. John Q. Hammons Honored for his Commitment and Contributions to Springfield, Mo.; Mr. Hammons Receives Awards From 417 Magazine and Ozarks Technical Community College.


SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Contributing to growth and expansion by helping Springfield, Mo., transform its visions for the future into the city it has become today has always been a top priority for Mr. John Q. Hammons John Q. Hammons (born James Quentin Hammons on February 24, 1919) is an American businessman and one of the nation's premier developers of upscale luxury hotels and resorts. With over 50 years of experience in the hotel industry, John Q. , recipient of 417 Magazine's 2005 "Most Influential Local Person" award and the Ozarks Technical Community College's first annual "Excellence in Business" award.

Mr. Hammons serves as the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of John Q. Mr. Hammons was presented with the "Most Influential Local Person" award by 417 Magazine at the 2nd annual "Best of 417" party held in Springfield on Sunday, Feb. 27, and he will receive the "Excellence in Business" award at a special seminar at Ozarks Technical Community College Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC) is "the community's college" in Springfield, Missouri, established by Springfield and thirteen surrounding public school districts on April 3, 1990. As the region's new comprehensive community college, OTC has an open-admissions policy.  on Friday, March 4.

The 417 Magazine Award

The "Most Influential Local Person" award is given to an individual that readers and subscribers to 417 Magazine have determined the "best" of Springfield by submitting a survey. The award is one of 130 categories outlined in the highly anticipated "Best of 417" issue. Mr. Hammons also received the award in 2002.

The Ozarks Technical Community College Award

The first annual "Excellence in Business" award is a prestigious honor given by Ozarks Technical Community College and its Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE SIFE Students in Free Enterprise
SIFE Second ISLSCP Field Experiment
) team. It is presented as part of a seminar that is open to the public and students, entitled "A Conversation With...," which honors the achievements of a local business leader, including showcasing the leader's business.

The winner of the "Excellence in Business" award is based on specific criteria established by SIFE, including leadership in business in the Ozarks region, success as an entrepreneur, demonstration of innovative growth, support of educational development, ability to overcome challenges with integrity, a focus on customer-driven quality and participation in community enrichment.
