With a notably enthusiastic style, Mr. Food specializes in practical food preparation techniques often using readily available ingredients such as  and 'Mr. Food's Cooking School A cooking school or culinary school is an institution devoted to education in the art and science of food preparation. It also awards degrees which indicate that a student has undergone a particular curriculum and therefore displays a certain level of competency. .'

"Our current subscriber base is approximately 4,000," Fantel continued, "with additional issues circulated at Mr. Food's appearances and to our e-commerce customers.

"We are just beginning our serious marketing of the piece; until now have had coupons on the bottom of the daily Mr. Food recipe sheets that we distribute to our TV affliates. We are continuing with that, as well as doing emails with special offers to our lists of Mr. Food fans, and the newsletter is also included as a product on our e-commerce website, www.athomewithmrfood.com. (In fact, we currently have a phenomenal special offer listed there, as well.)

"We are also in the process of developing a direct mail piece for the newsletter," Fantel said, "since Mr. Food has had great success with direct mail campaigns for other programs."

She said the DM piece they are developing will offer subscriptions as part of a Mr. Food club membership.

The newsletter is a riot of color--bright red and purple and green and blue headlines and full-color photos of food and places and, of course, Mr. Food himself (we counted 12 photos of him in the special May-June double issue--in his kitchen, standing over a picnic table A picnic table (or sometimes a picnic bench) is a modified table with benches expressly for the purpose of eating a meal outdoors (picnicking). In the past, picnic tables were typically made of wood, but modern tables can be made out of anything from recycled plastic to , holding a basket of fruit, and wearing his chef's hat and apron in down-town Chicago for a "Spotlight on Chicago! We also counted no fewer than 42 recipes in the issue--plus articles on scallions, olive oils olive oil, pale yellow to greenish oil obtained from the pulp of olives by separating the liquids from solids.
