History Founded in 1919 by William Andrews Clark, Jr. and now a soloist, chamber musician and teacher, will be the featured guest artist for Oregon Mozart Players' second pair of concerts of the season. The program, called `Music About Music,' explores how composers find inspiration from composers who have come before - or even from their own previous work. For instance, the lineup includes Maurice Ravel's ``Le Tombeau de Couperin Le Tombeau de Couperin is a suite for solo piano by Maurice Ravel, composed between 1914 and 1917. It is in six movements. Each movement is dedicated to the memory of friends of the composer who had died fighting in World War I. ,'' an homage to the creative spirit of the French baroque composer, Francois Couperin. Ravel's work on the piece was interrupted by World War I, during which he volunteered as a truck driver. In its final composition, each movement is dedicated to the memory of a different friend who perished during the war. Also on the program is W.A. Mozart's Symphony in D Major, K. 248b, and P.I. Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme The Variations on a Rococo theme for violoncello and orchestra in A major Op.33 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is a concert-piece for solo cellist and orchestra. Though not really a concerto, it was the closest Tchaikovsky ever came to writing a full concerto for cello. , which will feature Leonard. Leonard is now a professor of cello at the University of Southern California The U.S. News & World Report ranked USC 27th among all universities in the United States in its 2008 ranking of "America's Best Colleges", also designating it as one of the "most selective universities" for admitting 8,634 of the almost 34,000 who applied for freshman admission .
