Thomas W. Levermann, who died in April of a heart attack. Levermann was a 26-year veteran of the Natural Resources Conservation Service and worked closely with AMERICAN FORESTS American Forests is a nonprofit conservation organization that promotes healthy forests and urban tree planting.

The organization was established in 1875 as the American Forestry Association, by physician/horticulturist John Aston Warder and a group of like-minded citizens
 during the 1980s on youth environmental education programs. He had been a state public information officer in Kentucky. Levermann was also director of information-education for the Papio Natural Resources District and an urban conservationist with the former Douglas Soil and Water Conservation District, both in Omaha, Nebraska “Omaha” redirects here.
