Mounting AN/PVS.4 on machine guns.


To mount the AN/PVS-4 night sight on your M240B or M249 machine gun, you use the adapter A device that allows one system to connect to and work with another. An adapter is often a simple circuit that converts one set of signals to another; however, the term often refers to devices which are more accurately called "controllers.  and rail grabber assembly. Here are the parts you'll need:

1. Remove the two screws for the sight's metal adapter with a 5/32-in hex key A hex key, also known as an Allen, hex-head, or zeta key or wrench, is a tool used to drive screws and bolts that have a hexagonal socket in the head.

Some features of this type of tool are:
  • The tool is simple, small and light.
. Take off the adapter and store it and the screws in a sealed plastic bag in the sight's case.

2. Position the adapter/rail grabber assembly so that the rail grabber fits on the front portion of the night sight. Align the two holes in the adapter with the two holes in the bottom of the night sight and secure the adapter with the two screws, NSN NSN National Stock Number

 5305-01-0155686. Tighten them snug with a 5/32-in hex key.

3. Position the rail grabber assembly knob on the left side of the machine gun. Turn the knob counterclockwise to loosen it and then attach the rail grabber assembly to the gun's top rail. Turn the knob clockwise clock·wise
