Motor Racing: Lavilla out in front.

MOTORCYCLING: Gregorio Lavilla Gregorio Lavilla is a motorcycle racer, born September 29th 1973 in L'Hospitalet de l'Infant, Catalonia. His victory in the 2005 British Superbike Championship was a major surprise, especially because he had never raced in the championship full-time before, and only got his ride a  and Ryuichi Kiyonari Ryuichi Kiyonari (清成龍一) is a Japanese motorcycle racer. He is the current British Superbike champion, and rides for the factory Honda team. He was runner-up to Gregorio Lavilla in 2005, but went one spot better in 2006.  took the race victories in the fourth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship The British Superbike series is the leading motorsport motorcycle racing championship in the United Kingdom.

In the opening race, Lavilla barged ahead of his Airwaves Ducati team-mate Leon Haslam at the Hairpin bend on the penultimate lap to take his fifth victory of the season.

Next time out at the Cheshire circuit, Haslam quickly reeled in the early leader Tommy Hill on the Virgin Media Yamaha.

But Haslam then suffered a lack of grip on his bike's rear tyre and was overtaken just into the second half of the race by HM Plant Honda rider Kiyonari.

Lavilla, who started that race sluggishly, carved through the pack from 14th on the opening lap to finish fourth and he now leads Kiyonari by 169 points to 140 in the overall championship standings.
