Motor City Brass Band (MCBB) with Craig Strain, Musical Director and Conductor, spice up your Sunday, June 2 at 3pm, on stage at Southfield Centre for the Arts as they present "Summer Salsa" along with special guests, Rich K Brazil and Beyond.
Specializing in jazz-influenced Brazilian and World music, Brazil and Beyond includes some of the finest musicians in the Detroit area: Rich Kowalewski, acoustic and electric basses; Frank Marinello, guitar; Rob Emanuel, drum kit; and Dennis Sheridan, world percussion. These outstanding players, each with an impressive list of credentials too lengthy to mention here, combine their talents for an energy, sensitivity, and spontaneity that is uniquely Brazil and Beyond.
MCBB continues its tradition of fusing the glorious brass band sound with an "Americanization" of spirit. Performing regularly throughout the Detroit area, MCBB combines its superb musicianship with expressive interpretation of a wide range of musical styles for an exciting, enjoyable musical experience. Based at Southfield Centre for the Arts, the band produces an annual music series in addition to concerts around the Southeast Michigan area and throughout the state. MCBB also competes each year in the North American Brass Band Association championships, from which they recently were awarded 2nd place in their division for 2002.
