The Canadian chapter of Mothers' Union The Mothers' Union (often abbreviated MU) is a worldwide movement of Anglican women, whose aim is to strengthen and preserve marriage and family life through Christianity. The MU calculates its membership to be about 3.6 million in 78 countries.  (MU), has launched a Web site, www.mothersunioncanada.ca.

MU, which the Arcbishop of Canterbury once referred to as the "fifth instrument of unity" in the Anglican Communion Anglican Communion, the body of churches in all parts of the world that are in communion with the Church of England (see England, Church of). The communion is composed of regional churches, provinces, and separate dioceses bound together by mutual loyalty as , has more than 3.6 million members in 77 countries, making it one of the largest Christian organizations in the world. Nationally, MU works with bishops in the Council of the North, through the Northern Clergy Families Fund. In 2005, it was able to provide 13 gifts of $950 each to clergy families nominated by the bishops.
