Most Misunderstand Common Men's Disorder.


Prostatitis prostatitis (prŏs'tətī`tĭs), inflammation of the prostate gland. Acute prostatitis is usually a result of infection in the urinary tract or infection carried by the blood; in many cases the infection spreads from the urethra and is  is inflammation of the prostate gland gland, organ that manufactures chemical substances. A gland may vary from a single cell to a complex system of tubes that unite and open onto a surface through a duct. The endocrine glands, e.g.  that will affect nearly half of all men at some time in their lives. Yet few have heard of the condition, and even fewer understand what it is. A recent survey shows that only 15 percent of Americans have ever heard of prostatitis. And of those who have heard of it, 16 percent incorrectly believe that it can affect both men and women.

Many men believe that prostatitis is an early sign of cancer, which is also not true. Prostatitis is caused by bacteria and other factors, and can often be treated with antibiotics Antibiotics Definition

. While symptoms can vary, they usually include fever; chills; frequent, urgent, or painful urination urination

Process of excreting urine from the bladder (see urinary system). Nerve centres in the spinal cord, brain stem, and cerebral cortex control it through involuntary and voluntary muscles. The need to void is felt when the bladder holds 3.
; and lower back pain. You're more likely to contract the infection as you get older, but prostatitis can occur in men of any age.
