The project was kicked off with a partnering workshop that included the MK design/build team; officials from the Department of State, led by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Foreign Buildings Operations; and officials from the embassy in Kampala, including the American Ambassador to Uganda. The common goal is to ensure that a safe and secure facility is provided on schedule and within budget.

Dennis R. Washington, MK chairman, president and chief executive officer, remarked, "We look forward to this opportunity to serve the U.S. Department of State's Office of Foreign Buildings Operations with the same level of commitment and performance that MK provided for the fast-track design and construction of the Interim Office Building in Nairobi, Kenya."
