Accounting skyrocketed to third place as the most-popular career choice, from 13th place a year ago. And, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young ranked as the two most desirable U.S. employers in the annual survey of 6,000 undergraduates at 56 schools.

In a ranking of total jobs offered to new graduates, accounting moved up to fifth from ninth a year ago, according to the association. The median salary for an entry-level en·try-lev·el
