More on the Evolving Lobby.

For its new banking office in downtown Indianapolis, Old National Bancorp wants to be sure that its upscale clientele knows where it is. To ensure that they do, the bank commissioned local artists Greg Hull and Mario Mirelez to create a series of aphorisms, concerning the role of money in modem life, which are projected onto the bank's interior walls and-after dark-onto the sidewalks in front. of the building. Some of the messages: "Think about what you want," "Do you live in a prison money bought?" "We are here to create abundance." "Tell your kids where money comes from." Projected images on the bank's inside walls elaborate on the theme.

Two large orange glass walls inside the office are designed to reflect the sun's light during the day. At night they are lit in order to cast an orange glow over the bank interior.

There's more. All transactions are handled in seated, one-on-one consultations rather than in teller lines. Free specialty coffee is available, as are international newspapers and magazines. A flat-screen monitor displays up-to-date financial news. The bank also offers scheduled and on-call courier service to and from its clients' places of business. If necessary, bank personnel will go to the client, either at his home or office.
