More laser-activated compounds for MIDs.BASF BASF Bar Association of San Francisco (since 1872; San Francisco, California) BASF Badische Anilin und Soda Fabrik (German chemical products company) BASF Builders Association of South Florida Corp. of Germany and Wyandotte, Mich., has signed a know-how and licensing agreement with LPKF Laser & Electronics AG of Garbsen, Germany, to permit modifying a range of engineering plastics for 3D molded interconnect devices (MIDs). BASF is licensed to use the LPKF process with nylon, acetal, polysulfone, and polyethersulfone. Ticona in Summit, N.J., and Degussa Corp., Parsippany, N.J., have signed similar agreements with LPKF for modifying LCP (Link Control Protocol) See PPP. LCP - Link Control Protocol and PBT PBT Provider Backbone Transport (networking technology adding determinism to ethernet) PBT Polybutylene Terephthalate PBT Profit Before Tax PBT Paper Based Test (education) , respectively. The process uses a special laser-activated additive that allows direct electroplating electroplating: see plating. electroplating Process of coating with metal by means of an electric current. Plating metal may be transferred to conductive surfaces (e.g., metals) or to nonconductive surfaces (e.g. of electrical circuitry onto plastic parts. A moving laser beam traces the paths of high-density circuitry on the molded part. Where the laser beam activates the additive, the plastic becomes electroplatable.
