GASB GASB Governmental Accounting Standards Board  recently issued an exposure draft proposing standards aimed at enhancing and updating the information governments present with their annual financial statements.

The proposal, dubbed dub 1  
tr.v. dubbed, dub·bing, dubs
1. To tap lightly on the shoulder by way of conferring knighthood.

2. To honor with a new title or description.

3.
 Economic Condition Reporting: The Statistical Section, looks to revise the statistical section accompanying ac·com·pa·ny  
v. ac·com·pa·nied, ac·com·pa·ny·ing, ac·com·pa·nies

v.tr.
1. To be or go with as a companion.

2.
 state or local government financial statements, to include more comprehensive governmentwide financial information.

Proposed updates to the statistical section include requiring governments to report the broad array of debt they now issue, in addition to general obligation bonds.

The proposed standards would take effect after June June: see month.  15, 2005.
