Beijing--The persecution of Christians The persecution of Christians is religious persecution that Christians sometimes undergo as a consequence of professing their faith, both historically and in the current era. Christians are by far the most persecuted religious group in human history.  in China continues unabated. In early November, leaders of various Protestant communites were arrested. He currently serves as President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue in the Roman Curia, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 2003. , the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States The Secretary for Relations with States is the foreign minister of the Holy See, an official serving within the Secretariat of State, presiding over its "Second Section". This titular archbishop, the Vatican's top foreign-policy official, deals with relations between the Holy See , said he saw no new openings for religious freedom.

At the time of US President Bill Clinton's visit (June), at least 30 Chinese Catholic priests This is an annotated list of men primarily known for their work as Catholic priests.
