Approximately 80% of the right-of-way is already committed to the CCT, with much of that land already publicly owned, in accord with the Montgomery County Master Plan. In addition to having the land secured, the CCT, a light rail system is less expensive to build than heavy rail and less expensive to operate than a bus system.

"The CCT will be a friendly, easy ride for commuters who wish to avoid the congestion on I-270," says State Senator Rob Garagiola, District 15. "A few years from now, people will say 'I ride the CCT,' just as they say 'I ride the Metro' today."
