Monsanto acquires Agroeste Sementes, a leading Brazilian corn seed
company, for slightly more than $100 million. Agroeste focuses on hybrid
corn seed production and serves farmers throughout Brazil, the
world's third largest corn production area.
The company also announces its Asian subsidiary has sold its hybrid
rice, sunflower, sorghum and pearl millet businesses and certain other
assets to Belgium-based Devgen nv for $26 million.
