Monsanto Co., St. Louis, receives U.S. regulatory clearance for Bollgard II insect-protected cotton technology. The technology will be available for the 2003 planting season in several cotton varieties. Bollgard II cotton combats pests such as cotton bollworm bollworm, name for the larvae of two different moths. The pink bollworm is a serious pest of cotton, and the corn earworm, or cotton bollworm, attacks cotton, corn, and other crops. , tobacco budworm bud·worm
