Monolithic Power Systems' 1 to 3A, Synchronous Step-Down Regulators Simplify Migration Path.

LOS GATOS Los Gatos (lôs gä`tōs, lŏs, găt`əs), city (1990 pop. 27,357), Santa Clara co., W Calif.; inc. 1887. It is an affluent residential community and health resort. , Calif. -- Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) (Nasdaq:MPWR MPWR Maximum Process Weight Rate ) introduces the MP2309 and MP2307 23V synchronous step-down regulators. With an output current rating of 1A and 3A respectively, the MP2309 and MP2307 are pin compatible with the 2A MP2305 forming a power management solution that can easily scale from 1A to 3A without circuit board re-design. All products feature a wide operating input voltage range of 4.75 to 23V. The output voltage is adjustable from 0.9V to as high as 20V using external resistors. In addition, the footprint of associated external components is the same for all three products. These attributes allow design engineers to focus on custom logic design with the confidence that their board design will be able to accommodate system power management needs in the most cost efficient manner.

The MP2309 and MP2307 feature internal synchronous power FETs and fixed switching frequency of 340kHz resulting in up to 95% efficiency. Inrush in·rush

High voltage is used in electrical power distribution, in cathode ray tubes, to generate X-rays and particle beams, to  synchronous step-down regulators on the market, each fitting within an 8-pin SOIC (Small Outline IC) A small-dimension, plastic, rectangular, surface mount chip package that uses gull-wing pins extending outward. In shutdown, the MP2309 only draws 1uA maximum. The MP2307 reduces quiescent current to 0.3uA in shutdown. Both devices offer the same set of safety features including thermal shutdown, short circuit and under voltage lockout lockout, intentional closing up of a company, factory, or shop by an employer to prevent employees from working during a strike or labor dispute. The MP2309 and MP2307 are designed to operate in the -40 to +85C ambient temperature range. Samples and evaluation boards are available from stock immediately. Pricing for the MP2309 and MP2307 in 1,000 piece quantities is $1.51 and $2.04 respectively. Now, both your custom logic design and your power supply have a migration path.

About Monolithic Power

Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. (MPS) designs, develops and markets proprietary, advanced analog and mixed-signal semiconductors for a broad range of markets. The company's integrated circuits (ICs) are used in a variety of electronic products, such as notebook computers, flat panel displays, cellular handsets, digital cameras, wireless local area network (LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used. ) access points, home entertainment systems, and personal digital assistants (PDAs). MPS utilizes a fabless business model, manufacturing its ICs through a foundry partner that employs the company's proprietary process technology. MPS is based in Los Gatos, California “Los Gatos” redirects here. For the Argentine rock band, see Los Gatos (band).
