In the first zoo exhibit of its kind, people can slip on a virtual-reality helmet, grab hold of a joystick (hardware, games) joystick - A device consisting of a hand held stick that pivots about one end and transmits its angle in two dimensions to a computer. Joysticks are often used to control games, and usually have one or more push-buttons whose state can also be read by the computer.  and invade a gorilla habitat. Sensors in the helmet and joystick detect the user's movements, signaling the computer to change scenes on a 3-D monitor inside the helmet.

Move the joystick forward, for instance, and get a closer look at an ape. But watch out! Get too close and the virtual gorilla will give warning "cough" sounds or even charge--just like a real ape.

The programmers hope to design an entire virtual zoo Virtual Zoo
A Virtual Zoo is a new concept that uses the zoo model in a web format. Virtual zoos are basically websites that are created to simiulate a visit to a zoo, and the visitors to these sites can view exhibits about animals and their habaits.
