With companies purchasing storage space in record numbers, the question that presents itself is how to manage and monitor all of this information once it is tucked away. Arkivio, a fairly new player in the game of storage, has recently offered a solution to the problem with the release of its Auto-Stor software.

According to Arkivio, the software provides customers with solutions to manage data growth and placement over its lifecycle. The UNIX release of Auto-Stor enables automated and agent-less discovery, monitoting, and reporting of data and storage resources across heterogeneous DAS/SAN/NAS environments. In addition, these UNIX enhancements build on the existing ability for Windows storage environments to adaptively optimize the placement of data on the most appropriate storage device available on the network. By intelligently moving data to the appropriate resources, Auto-Stor can fully utilize existing storage, actively prevent work stoppage due to volumes exceeding capacity, and automatically direct data to new storage resources.
