Alan Gelfand Alan Gelfand (born 1963, New York) is the inventor of the ollie, a skateboarding trick.

Gelfand moved from New York to Hollywood, Florida with his family in 1968. Alan "Ollie" Gelfand started skateboarding in 1974 after his father bought him his first skateboard.
, who invented the ollie in 1977, has recently asserted that he alone owns the rights to the name and use of the word Ollie. He also claims that numerous companies have infringed upon his trademarking rights and that he deserves compensation for its use. Disney, Sega, and Ron Jon Surf Shop have now been brought into courtby Alan over their use of the word "ollie" in association with skateboard related products.
