Money crunch shuts down outreach (Anglican-sponsored outreach and advocacy program in the Diocese of New Westminter, BC).


An Anglican-sponsored outreach and advocacy program in the Diocese of New Westminster New Westminster, city (1991 pop. 43,585), SW British Columbia, Canada, on the Fraser River, part of metropolitan Vancouver. Founded in 1859 as Queensborough, it was the capital of British Columbia until Victoria was made capital after the union of British Columbia  has been forced to shut down because of a funding crisis.

New Westminster Reachout closed its doors this past New Year's Eve. St. Barnabas Church originally launched the centre in 1993 to help disadvantaged members of the community. Holy Trinity Cathedral Holy Trinity Cathedral, or Trinity Cathedral or other variations on the name, may refer to:

Canonique, h.v.  of Holy Trinity Cathedral and a member of the Reachout board, that the society could not continue to pay the program's full-time outreach worker and part-time communications officer beyond Dec. 31. Mr. Bailey said there are no immediate plans to reopen the Reachout office, but a weekly meal and food cupboard program will continue. "We also hope that some of Reachout's educational work can be absorbed into parish-based ministries," he said.
