Molina Healthcare, Inc. is one of the top national managed care firms in terms of enrollment, according to InterStudy, a national managed care research organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Long Beach-based Molina Healthcare ranks as Number 14 in InterStudy's listing of the top 25 national managed care firms. The data reflects enrollment numbers collected on January 1, 2001 and published in "The InterStudy Competitive Edge: HMO Industry Report" on January 1, 2002. Last year, Molina had over 350,000 total members in four states: California, Washington, Utah and Michigan. Today, the health plan's enrollment for these states totals 400,000.

Moreover, two of Molina Healthcare's health plans -- Molina Healthcare of California and Molina Healthcare of Washington -- were among the Fastest Growing HMOs according to data examined from July 1, 2000 to January 1, 2001. Both plans experienced a growth trend that exceeds the national average. The average rate of growth was 11.8 percent. Molina Healthcare of Washington experienced an 81 percent growth rate with a total enrollment of 115,511 based on last year's data. Molina Healthcare of California's total enrollment was 199,088, representing a 20.1 percent growth rate.

Today Molina Healthcare of California's enrollment is comprised of over 200,000 Medi-Cal and Healthy Families Program members. Molina Healthcare of Washington continues to increase its membership: December 2001's enrollment for its Healthy Options members, State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) members, and Basic Health and Basic Health Plus programs was 133,265.

Both Molina Healthcare of California and Molina Healthcare of Washington also were listed as InterStudy's Top 25 Largest HMOs ranked by Medicaid enrollment.
