Molester sentenced to 25 years.Byline: REBECCA NOLAN The Register-Guard Over the course of a year, Rick Blake Kelley molested three young girls, all of them the daughters of girlfriends or female acquaintances. On Wednesday, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, three counts of first-degree sodomy and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Kelley admitted abusing the girls, ages 7, 8 and 10. He was arrested July 16 during a traffic stop on Figueroa Street. Eugene police had been searching for him for several days. The daughter of his live-in girlfriend told her mother that Kelley had fondled her repeatedly, forced her to touch him sexually and made her perform oral sex, police reported. The girl also said that Kelley had done the same thing to her cousin and another young friend, Lane County Deputy District Attorney Mike Pugh said. Sometimes he abused the girls at the same time and made them touch each other, Pugh said. The live-in girlfriend reported the abuse to child welfare authorities, who called police July 12. Kelley's photo and description were distributed to patrol officers, one of whom spotted him on Figueroa a few days later. The officer found a loaded pistol inside a fanny pack hanging behind the passenger seat, police said. Kelley, 37, was convicted in Lane County Circuit Court in 1990 of second-degree sodomy involving a young girl. He served time at the Oregon State Correctional Institution in Salem. While incarcerated, his wife divorced him and won custody of their two daughters, now ages 15 and 13. Kelley also has a 5-year-old daughter by another woman. After his release, he was required to register annually as a sex offender with the Oregon State Police. According to court records, he lived in Eugene and Lowell before moving to the Bethel-area home he shared with his girlfriend. In the latest case, Lane County Circuit Judge Gregory Foote sentenced him to serve three consecutive 100-month terms, one for each count of first-degree sexual abuse. The sentences for the other charges will be served at the same time. Kelley also must provide a sample of his DNA for a statewide database used to track serious criminals and must undergo HIV/AIDS testing should the victims' parents request it. |
