Modis Named to Top Ten List of Smart 100 Companies.Business Editors JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 23, 2000 Modis Incorporated, the $1 billion information technology services subsidiary of Modis Professional Services, Inc. (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :MPS), has been ranked No. 9 on a prestigious list of Smart 100 companies. The list, compiled by Sm@rt Reseller Magazine, includes other e-business companies such as Sapient, Proxicom, and Scient. The magazine's third annual ranking selects and profiles the most successful and dynamic businesses in the technology industry. According to Sm@rt Reseller Editor Laton McCartney, "Many of this year's Smart 100 Companies . . . have returned to the fundamentals. Today, in the era of dot-coms, flood tides of VC money, and technology stocks with exorbitant PE's, the bottom line is still what really matters." To develop the list of the Smart 100 Companies, the magazine selected from a pool of companies who responded to an online questionnaire as well as companies recommended by the editors. Those in business for more than three years were considered. The criteria for the ranking included revenue increases, revenue per employee, certifications, e-business initiatives, and success in expanding into new markets. The goal of the ranking is to recognize outward signs of robust, viable companies. According to the magazine, Modis made a smart move in increasing its e-business services portfolio. With its e-business solutions company, Idea Integration, Modis has been busy "filling the map" with e-business practice offerings targeted at each of the top 20 U.S. markets. Modis Inc.'s planned spin-off from parent company Modis Professional Services later this year also garnered some attention. "We are honored to be recognized as one of the leading e-solutions companies. This is a tribute to the hard work and talents of our consultants and business leaders," stated Tim Payne, President of Modis.
