When it comes to Scottish music, there aren't many names bigger than Dougie MacLean.

MacLean has six gold albums under his belt. His song "Caledonia" has become an unofficial Scottish anthem. And he's seen his songs covered by the likes of Kathy Mattea Kathy Mattea, full name Kathleen Alice Mattea (born June 21, 1959, in South Charleston, West Virginia), is a female country music and bluegrass performer who often brings celtic sounds to her music, particularly with her release of Love Travels  and used in films such as "Last of the Mohicans" and "Angel Eyes."

The 50-year-old singer-songwriter, guitarist and fiddler will bring the sounds of the Scottish highlands

MacLean blends the traditional, ancient sounds of Scottish music with more contemporary rhythms. And his skills have brought him dedicated fans around the world.

MacLean was raised in a musical family. His father, a gardener, played the fiddle, and his mother played the mandolin mandolin (măn'dəlĭn`, măn`dəlĭn'), musical instrument of the lute family, with a half-pear-shaped body, a fretted neck, and a variable number of strings, plucked with the fingers or with a plectrum. . He continues to live near Perthshire, Scotland, where he was born. MacLean has 18 albums to his credit; the most recent is 2002's "Who Am I." He's on a short, two-week tour of North America, which takes him from Salt Lake City to Calgary to Eugene and points in between.
