What is the key to writing a persuasive grant proposal that yields funds? Simply put, it is the connection the grant writer makes between the project idea and the principles of the funding agency.

Grant writing has assumed greater importance than ever before in public education. Successful grants provide money, but grant writing takes considerable human and time resources and payoff is not necessarily assured. Grant writing requires determination, planning, savvy and skill, and studying how others did it right is an excellent strategy for learning the proposal process.

Persuasion means matching your plan's objectives to the values of the funding agency and emphasizing this match throughout every element of the grant application. The book provides hints for determining hot buttons and distinctive features that guide a persuasion process.
