Mobility and strength: Harry Kletter and ISA rely on Fuchs scrap handlers.

Scrap recycling recycling, the process of recovering and reusing waste products—from household use, manufacturing, agriculture, and business—and thereby reducing their burden on the environment.  veteran Harry Kletter of Industrial Services of America Inc. ), Louisville, Ky., has always been willing to travel the world to stay in touch with innovations in the recycling industry.

A trip to Europe in 1996 allowed Harry to see several wheeled Fuchs scrap handling machines in action. "We owned several crawlers at that time, but needed cranes with more mobility," recalls Harry. "We needed to go mobile because of the concrete surfaces we now had in our yards."

ISA agreed to adopt a trial model for Fuchs in the U.S., a decision that opened the door to several eventual Fuchs purchases. Harry has owned several Fuchs 350 material handlers handlers

and recommends them for small-to-medium-sized yards.

The larger Fuchs 360-model material handler A software routine that performs a particular task. It often refers to a routine that "handles" an exception of some kind, such as an error, but it can refer to mainstream processes as well. The term is typically used in operating systems and other system software.  has become his preferred machine for many of the heavy-duty applications in which ISA is involved. At the company's Seymour, Ind IND Investigational new drug Therapeutics A status assigned by the FDA to a drug before allowing its use in humans, exempting it from premarketing approval requirements so that experimental clinical trials may be conducted. See Phase 1.2, 3 studies, Sponsorship. ., location, a Fuchs 360 model has been brought in to replace a battle-scarred 350.

"For my applications, I think the 360 is ideal," Harry comments. "The 360 is big enough to handle a few additional tasks for me compared to the 350."

The Fuchs 360 on site at ISA's Louisville facility is handling the large-volume ferrous ferrous (fĕr`əs), iron in the +2 valence state.

Containing or having to do with iron. The difference between ferrous and ferric is the number of valence electrons they contain (ferrous contains two and ferric contains three), which

Reliability and ease of operation are two significant advantages that are offered by the Fuchs material handlers, Harry notes. "It's an easy-to-run machine, with controls that are like a Nintendo game," he remarks. "It's an easy crane for operators, and they appreciate that it is not drudgery to run it."

Harry has been pleased with the service and follow-up from Fuchs-Terex, and he has been particularly pleased that the machines are available through the Rudd Equipment Co. dealership in Louisville. "Working with Tom Skodack and Fuchs-Terex has been terrific, and Rudd Equipment has been my dealer for 50 years," notes Harry. "A relationship that long speaks for itself."

to work with Fuchs equipment, Harry is proud to note that he remains a Fuchs customer. Industrial Services of America currently owns four Fuchs material handlers and is considering a fifth. "Fuchs is highly recommendation to work with on a fleet basis," states Harry. "They are really backing their products with customer service and care. Their approach has made this a solid situation."
