MobileAccess and GE Healthcare Announce Availability of Innovative Solution for Supporting Wireless Medical Telemetry; Offering Gives Hospitals One Infrastructure for all Wireless Services.

VIENNA, Va. -- MobileAccess Networks, an enterprise wireless innovator, and GE Healthcare GE Healthcare is a $18 billion (USD) unit of General Electric (GE). It employs more than 46,000 people worldwide and is headquartered in Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom. Developed to help hospitals seamlessly bring their entire portfolio of wireless services and applications together on a single infrastructure, GE's Enterprise Access enables healthcare organizations to harness the power of next-generation wireless computing throughout their facilities.

MobileAccess and GE have co-developed a WMTS solution that enables hospitals to operate GE's ApexPro(R) CH wireless telemetry patient monitoring directly over Enterprise Access. With ApexPro CH wireless telemetry integrated into the Enterprise Access solution, hospitals have a unique opportunity to deploy telemetry on the same infrastructure as their other wireless services and applications.

"Enterprise Access ensures that hospitals are able to seamlessly and cost effectively deploy a wireless network capable of supporting not only voice communications and data applications, but also wireless healthcare applications," said David Ataide, vice president and general manager of GE Healthcare's Monitoring Solutions business. "Wireless telemetry is an increasingly critical element of caregiver care·giv·er

infrastructures to support their clinical workflows. Combining the strength of MobileAccess technology and GE's broad portfolio of wireless clinical products, GE's Enterprise Access provides healthcare organizations a multi-use, highly-adaptive and easily-maintained wireless solution that extends voice and data application access throughout the hospital enterprise, regardless of the wireless device used. This enables medical teams to deliver increased clinical and information technology productivity through improved communication across the entire campus.

"Today, wireless is more than just a communications and information sharing See data conferencing.  tool, it's also an increasingly important part of quality care and the overall patient experience," said Ataide. "Whether enabling hospital personnel to review patients' medical records on a wireless laptop as they move throughout a facility, or allowing physicians to view real-time patient data on a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) A handheld computer for managing contacts, appointments and tasks. It typically includes a name and address database, calendar, to-do list and note taker, which are the functions in a personal information manager (see PIM).  or Tablet PC (1) A tablet computer environment from Microsoft that is based on an enhanced version of Windows XP. Designed to function more like a portable writing tablet than previous tablet-based computers, it includes handwriting recognition as well as the ability to retain handwritten words  no matter where they are, Enterprise Access is changing the face of healthcare. The availability of ApexPro CH wireless telemetry on GE's Enterprise Access provides hospitals with a unified approach to wireless communication and productive workflow."

Leveraging MobileAccess' Wire-it-Once(TM) technology, Enterprise Access can accommodate virtually all of a hospital's wireless needs on a single infrastructure while giving them the flexibility to easily and cost-effectively add services and expand coverage as their wireless requirements evolve. In addition to this new telemetry capability, Enterprise Access enables the full range of other wireless services that hospitals use, including 802.11 a/b/g with encryption The reversible transformation of data from the original (the plaintext) to a difficult-to-interpret format (the ciphertext) as a mechanism for protecting its confidentiality, integrity and sometimes its authenticity.
