Mobile clinical assistant.

Royal Philips Electronics and Intel Corp. united their technological expertise to produce the mobile clinical assistant (MCA) that utilizes an integrated, wireless component to connect to patient information stored in electronic medical records. The MCA is designed with input from clinicians through clinical workflow studies, interviews and ethnography research conducted by Intel. The mobile device features a 10.4-inch XGA touch screen, RFID and bar code scanning, Bluetooth, wireless LAN connectivity and an onboard digital camera. The portable, always-connected device is made of lightweight, durable material and is fully sealed for easy wipe-down and disinfecting. The long-life battery can be swapped with a fresh one in the docking station without disruption to any running applications. Royal Philips Electronics, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
